Wallpaper zoo mural Project for Kessenuma schoolchildren

2011年12月16日 更新

The IPS has been visiting Miyagi and Fukushima for the past several months for various volunteer and research activities. One of its projects is the 「壁一面動物園計画」or Zoo Mural Project for the benefit of the Ashinome Kindergarten schoolchildren in Kessenuma City.

The Ashinome Kindergarten school building was completely destroyed by the earthquake/tsunami last March 11. Fortunately for the more than 150 students and 15 faculty members of the Ashinome Kindergarten, the construction of the new school building started last October 2011.

Last Thursday, December 15th, 2011, members of the IPS and sixteen sophomore and junior students from the Ikeda and Wada seminars helped make the paper crafts for this wallpaper mural.
Upon completion, the wallpaper zoo mural will be sent to the Ashinome Kindergarten in Kessenuma, Miyagi next month when it inaugurates its new school building.

The Zoo Mural Project is organized by Assistant Professor Tomohiro Hashima and Regional Coordinator, Mr. Naoya Hatsuda.
